The Caring Gene CPT is dedicated to supporting those seeking to help others through a career in healthcare and matching them with local NY employers who need skilled and compassionate professionals. Ultimately, their goal is to strengthen the healthcare workforce in New York by investing in your healthcare education.

Mildred Elley’s partnership with The Caring Gene® Career Pathway Training (CPT) Program means that approved applicants for the Practical Nursing Certificate (LPN) and Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate (CMA) program can look forward to fully covered financial support for tuition and books, leaving no student debt for program-related expenses. This comprehensive support extends to career prep assistance, job placement assistance, and personal support with a case specialist so you can focus on reaching your career goals.

Career Pathway Training Program Student Benefits:

Requirements for Eligibility

Applicants must be US citizens and New York State residents. If an applicant is a resident of a bordering state, they must be currently employed by a NY State provider. Participants must commit to completing their certificate at Mildred Elley by Spring, 2027, and then must be employed by an approved NYS Medicaid-enrolled provider for 3 years until 2031.

How to apply for the Caring Gene Funding:

  1. Click on this link: https://caringgene.org/get-started/
  2. Within a few minutes, you will receive an email response to the email address you provided on the contact form from CPT@caringgene.org. This email is your invitation to apply for the grant.
  3. Click on the green "Submit your application!" button in the email.
  4. Complete the application. You will receive confirmation that the application was submitted.

Once Caring Gene has the application, they will assign you a case worker who will reach out to you in 5-7 days to schedule an interview. Once approved for the funding, Caring Gene will alert the Admissions team at Mildred Elley, and your enrollment process will move forward.

*To be eligible for CPT funding, applicants must enroll in one of 13 approved health, behavioral health, and social care careers fields, meet residency and financial aid requirements, and agree to a three-year service commitment with a NYS healthcare provider serving at least 30% Medicaid patients. A degree must be completed by Spring 2027, with service commitment by 2031.
