Our Medical Transcription program consists of dictation including:

  • Letters
  • Progress Notes
  • Pathology Reports
  • History and Physical Reports
  • Discharge Summaries
  • Consultation Reports
  • Operative Notes

In addition to hands-on transcribing, the student is also trained in voice recognition editing and goes through an instructor-guided externship. Students are instructed in industry-related equipment necessary for appropriate job performance, HIPAA regulations, employment opportunities, transcription resources and the use of technology.

Non-Medical Transcription Certificate Program

Non-Medical Transcription is a program designed for those students who want to enter the following industries as an at-home transcriptionist:

  • Law Enforcement
  • Insurance
  • Criminal Justice
  • Business

Course includes instruction in typing verbatim conversations, the proper use of equipment as well as instruction in terminology, formatting, grammar and punctuation, improper English including slang, and the importance of confidentiality. The program can take as little as 10 weeks.

Hospital-Based Coding Program

This is an extensive course designed to train students to be coding professionals, giving them the requisite skills required to enter the hospital-based coding profession and prepare the graduate to take the national certification (CCA - Certified Coding Associate) examination administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Students will learn how to properly classify medical data from patient records, review patient records, and assign numeric codes for each diagnosis and procedure. Coding accuracy is highly important to healthcare organizations because of its direct impact on revenues and describing health outcomes.
